Hello football fans, it’s Cole Tuisl, the Sports Director here at WLTL, and already 33% of your Lyons Township Lions football season is over. Led by Coach Weinberg and a young offense spearheaded by sophomore quarterback Ben Bryant ‘18, the Lions are 4-0, but where does the team stand at this point, heading into conference play?
4-0 is pretty impressive, but the easiest part of LT’s schedule is behind them, and their four wins aren’t the most impressive looking. Beating Warren and Proviso West by wide margins was expected, but nearly losing to cellar dweller teams such as Morton (Cicero) and Leyden are cause for concern. The LT offense in both of those games struggled for extended periods of time, while the run defense had it’s problems containing simple runs between the tackles. Trying to pull off a couple upsets in conference play will require many things to go right, and the Lions can’t play against previously mentioned conference opponents like they did against Morton and Leyden. The rest of the football season will truly be an indicator what this LT football team is capable of.

Hi! My name is Zoe Forsyth and I am the assistant music director here at WLTL. Being
the huge music fan that I am, over the past couple years of my life I have attended probably more music festivals and concerts than the average human being, but Riot Fest in Chicago is by far the most unique one I have ever experienced. Riot Fest is a music festival over the course of three days specializing in punk, rock, alternative, metal, and hip-hop, which is a similar format to the music our Djs play at the station. This year I arrived just in time to see Kongos— an African, alternative rock band consisting of four brothers, Cypress hill—An old school, Latino- American hip hop group, Snoop Dogg—the one and only —and Modest Mouse performing tracks off their new album Strangers To Ourselves. Modest Mouse impressed me the most with their noisy guitars and Issac Brock’s angsty rants, which appealed to both the younger and old crowd. Their music is one of the most interesting success stories in rock history, and there's no doubt that their new album will be just as successful as their last with great tracks like>> Strangers to Ourselves and Be Brave. I recommend you check these out :)))
Hey y'all! It’s Hunter, the Assistant Programming Director here at WLTL. This past week has been pretty fire (That’s some slang the kids are using these days to describe something that’s really cool) and WLTL (as usual) is running along smoothly! The first week of shows is done, and we can all breath deeply here on the management team.
So far, my experience as part of the governing body of WLTL has been a good one. Lots of freedom, but (get ready for a Spiderman quote people) with great power comes great responsibility. Although junior year is going to be tough, I’m pretty excited. Now, some of you may be asking what’s coming up here at WLTL? Well, it’s so great of you to ask! Of course, coming up in a few weeks is Homecoming, and with that comes the Homecoming parade! WLTL (of course) will be at the parade jamming out and passing out free stuff, so make sure you join us! Besides that, everything else is going fine! Make sure you listen to me and Connor Ciecko’s show every Friday from 3-5 for some great conversations and some great music! Stay awesome possums! |
