![]() With Halloween coming up shorty there are usually a few questions we tend to ask ourselves. First of all how old is too old to dress up? Should the celebrations stop after elementary school or can we keep the fun alive for another year? Although in high school the train for trick or treating has left the station (or at least should have long ago) there's still tons of thing you can do to get yourself back in the spooky swing of things. The most obvious way you can get festive is to dress up. One problem people seem to run into is deciding what costume is right for them. Throughout the years I've had some pretty interesting costumes, including; Judge Judy, a Siamese twin alien (Assistant Program Director Desa Bolger being my other half), and the world's worst mime. I can attribute most of these to my crafty mom, but the best costumes are the ones you come up with yourself. DIY costumes are great and can be cheaper than buying a regular costume, but when you do it yourself it's easy to miss the mark and fall short. One thing to remember is that the costumes that are the easiest to make also tend to be the most overdone. Costumes like a ‘black cat’ are basic and overused. Don’t get me wrong, iIve been there and done that- but eight grade was a hard time for everyone and frankly when I look back, even then I knew it was a poor excuse for a costume. If you take one of these basic costumes like a pirate or a nerd and bring it up to the next level with a killer outfit or snazzy makeup it can pass, but to be safe I would just avoid them completely. Wearing a costume that you like and feel good in will make your Halloween significantly more fun. You can go online for references or rack your brain to find a cool costumes. Group costumes and couple costumes are also a super fun option and lead to really cute photos. Although finding a costume can be a drag, and Halloween will probably never be as exciting as it once was. But it's always fun to be festive. And let's not forget the most important part of Halloween anyways- the candy. - Abby Olszanowski

![]() NEWS FLASH: Mike Glennon stinks. Going into 2017 Bears didn't have a Quarterback, Ryan Paces (Bears General Manager) answer to that problem was Glennon. Bears signed him to a 3-year $45,000,000 contract and after 4 games into the season, Mike Glennon is NOT the answer to the QB problem. I am no Ryan Pace hater, he's made great draft picks with Leonard Floyd, Tarik Cohen, Cody Whitehair, Pro-Bowl running back Jordan Howard, but the Mike Glennon was never going to be the franchise Quarterback. Glennon has only played 21 games (started 18 games) in 3 seasons with Tampa Bay. Expecting Mike Glennon to be the future QB of the bears are unrealistic. Fortunately, Ryan Pace wasn't sold either and in this year's draft picked up a surprise 2nd overall pick in Mitchell Trubisky. Mitchell Trubisky will get his first start at QB for the bears this week on Monday Night Football against Vikings, with the weight of the franchise future on his shoulders. Ryan Pace put ALL his chips on the table by drafting Trubisky, giving him the role as the future franchise QB. Bears fans are ready for a QB to excel at the QB team after 8 years of mediocre play from Jay Cutler. John Fox (Bears Head coach) decided that this week was the best week to start Trubisky and I have to disagree with the decision. The Vikings Defense is probably the best in the NFC. Corners Xavier Rhodes and Anthony Barr are going to lead a top 10 defense coached by Mike Zimmer against Trubisky in his first start of the year. Fox should have kept Glennon out one more week as the Saints defense has already gotten off to a bad start this year. Regardless this Monday Night football game will be worth watching as the start of a new era in Bears history with Mitchell at QB. BEARS FANS, DO NOT expect Trubisky to turn the season around, the bears are very dry at the receiver position, something they will have to address at the end of this year. BEARS FANS: DO NOT expect Trubisky to turn the season around, the bears are very dry at the receiver position, something they will have to address at the end of this year. DO NOT (If Bears win) Expect the same results for the rest of the season, there is a learning curve when making your first start as a NFL QB (I.e. DeShone KIzer, 2016 Jared Goff). DO NOT smash your television if Trubisky blows the game. What you should expect are some throwing errors, miscommunications, and missed wide receivers. Trubisky is only making his first NFL start. But there are somethings to look forward to, he threw 36-of-53 pass for 364 yards and three touchdowns in the NFL Preseason looks pretty good. In conclusion, don't judge Trubisky's career on one game, this is now the ERA OF TRUBISKY, so kick back and enjoy the whole ride. |
