Fostering in a New Album

5/8/2017

The last time Foster The People released a new album I had a weird headband addiction and had just gotten my braces off. I cannot wait to hear their new album as a high school graduate in person! That’s right: Foster The People will be releasing a new album this summer and coincidentally be appearing at Lollapalooza this summer as well!

To be honest, if it were not for the new album, I would probably pass them over because I have seen them live before.  But now, there is no chance I would miss the release.

Even more exciting is that they have already given us a sampling of the new album by releasing three songs off of the untitled upcoming album: “Doing It For the Money,” “S.H.C,” and “Pay the Man”. Those stressed about how many artists this year who have been rebranding themselves like The Head and The Heart and Childish Gambino, need not fear -- Foster the People has kept to their cheery electronic roots. I am not surprised... Foster stands out for their style and I think it would be a loss to toss that aside.

Out of the three releases my least favorite is “Doing it for the Money”. In my opinion, it is trying too hard to be "pop". That being said I bet this is the one that is going to take off and I will never be able to escape it. My favorite is "S.H.C.," and it could blend right into Torches and Supermodel.  I like “Pay the Man” as well--It's different and I admire the creative risk. The trumpet open is awesome. I think it is too soon to say if any classics will come out of this new album, but I am confident in saying that we are all in for a sweet surprise this summer!

It took me like 5 listens to really get into doing it for money. Agreed with you analysis of the risk.
