WLTL started in 1968, and has always been continually growing and improving due to listener support. Our annual fundraiser, Rock-a-Thon, is the premier example of the incredible generosity of our community. This year, our 50th anniversary, we are hoping for our most incredible Rock-a-Thon yet!
Rock-a-Thon is a entertaining, unique 88-hour non-stop broadcast scheduled for February 16th to the 19th. The broadcast starts at 5 am on the 16th and 9 pm on Sunday and is being simulcasted on LTTV, The Cube, and WLTL. This year, WLTL’s staff and on-air DJs are incredibly talented, interesting, eager, and ready to accept your donations to Rock-a-Thon!
This year is special. Because it’s the 50th anniversary we are planning a huge weekend including a live broadcast of the Boy’s Basketball Blackout Game, A few alumni shows, and once again 3 overnight shows which is bound to be unpredictable!
During the 88 hours, the show hosts generally play multiple hours of music and conversation, but the best parts of their shows are the crazy challenges, dares and games that help us raise money. Each show is 6 hours long which means more time for our DJs to raise money. Our staff and management involved in the fundraiser will be logging some serious hours at the station this Presidents Day weekend.
It’s 88 hours of straight madness. Rock-a-Thon is worth watching and listening to because it provides content that you can’t get anywhere else. My favorite memory from Rock-a-Thon was from last year. I was supervising a show for two managers Alexander and Luke. Their big idea to rack in donations was something called Deadly Twister. That game is very much so like regular Twister but this time, each color had a fatal item placed on it. On one color was Spaghetti-O’s, on the others were Legos, Hot Sauce, and a really nice Olive Oil and Glitter mix. A few donations came in and because Luke and Alex were willing to get their hands dirty they got WLTL a few hundred dollars.
Rock-a-Thon is a weekend you don’t want to miss. Tune in this President’s Day weekend to LTTV, The Cube and WLTL at 88.1 FM.
