Step Inside WLTL...Virtually Anyway
While we can't have everyone coming through the doors to visit, we can welcome you virtually into the WLTL Studios.

We hope you enjoy your virtual tour and if you have any questions about what you've seen, do not hesitate to contact us!

Ever Wonder How WLTL Technically Operates?

Many people wonder, how does an award winning radio station like WLTL get its sound from the hosts of WLTL out on the airwaves? Student Chief Engineer Ryan Tuohy breaks it down for you.

During the past 5-10 years, WLTL has overhauled our studios to bring them into the digital age of broadcasting. Here is a sneak peak at some of our equipment.  The thing that ties it all together at WLTL are our Axia control boards from The Tellos Alliance.  These allow us to mix several different forms of audio hardware like microphones and computers on one piece of technology. It also has features that lets us send audio from any one of our four studios to you on-air at 88.1 FM.

When you hear our lovely voices, whether they are live or pre-recorded, we use the industry standard Electro-Voice RE-20 microphones. If you are listening live on-air, music and pre-recorded programs are played back from a program called RadioDJ.  And if what you are hearing is pre-recorded, chances are it was put together using Adobe Audition.

Another very important piece of technology is our Comrex Remote System. This is used for remote broadcasts like sports games and operates by using a device to connect back to WLTL through the internet, making it sound as if our remote broadcast staff is actually in studio.

While all of this technology is important and helps us to sound our best for you each and every time you tune in, the most important thing I'd like you to know is how very thankful we are for your support.  Whether you have donated to keep WLTL operational or just listen on a regular basis, none of this amazing technology we have at our fingertips would matter.

P.S. - Take a look at the photo tour above and you will see many of the pieces of equipment I talked about.
