The lights went out. A single guitar began to play. They opened with Everlong. It felt like we had been waiting forever-long.
Being the first real concert I’ve ever been to, the Foo Fighters set the bar pretty high. Their show on August 29th absolutely blew me away. First and foremost, they sound just as good, if not better, live and that’s much more than can be said for most pop artists. Secondly, Dave Grohl does his concerts so informally. It seemed like every other song he was stopping to tell stories and drink beer. At one point he said, "I’m sure you’re all wondering how I broke my leg… I broke my leg. The end."
I’m a pretty big Foo Fighters fan, so I know practically all of the songs they performed (except White Limo, which I now know is a little too screamy for my taste) and I had an amazing time singing along and rocking out.
Also, Dave Grohl basically sang happy birthday to me. So that happened.
