With the Oscars being two weeks ago, there were a lot of winners, losers, and surprises. Naked John Cena? Pink stage? Orchestra? We are here to tell you all about it!
One of the biggest surprises was Ryan Gosling performing “I’m Just Ken,” from the Barbie movie, one of the songs that had been nominated! Another great performance from the Barbie movie, Billie and FINNEAS performed "What Was I Made For?” starting off with just the piano by FINNEAS, only to be revealed that there was a full orchestra behind them, playing the gorgeous backing track.
So Naked John Cena, what in the world am I talking about? John Cena came on stage to deliver the award for best costume design. The twist? He came on stage naked, with only the card with the winner’s name to cover himself. Where in the world did this idea come from? For one, the importance of costumes! Another reason? Mocking the 46th Oscars. In 1974, a streaker ran across the stage while the host was introducing Elizabeth Taylor as presenter for Best Picture.
This wasn't intentional, but fans of the 2016 movie “La La Land,” found parallels between the film and what happened at this year’s Oscars. In real life, Emma Stone won best actress and Ryan Gosling performed a huge musical number, while in the film, Emma Stone’s character “Mia” was an aspiring actress and Ryan Gosling’s character “Sebastian” was an aspiring jazz pianist. Though entirely unintentional, it’s funny to many fans of the movie.
