Who Could The Bulls Take In This Year's Draft

After the NBA Draft Lottery, the Chicago Bulls have jumped up to drafting 4th in this year's NBA Draft. In an incredibly deep draft for the NBA, the Bulls have a big chance to make the right pick and turn their team around.

The Bulls finished the season 19th in three-point percentage. They went after a plethora of guards at the trade deadline, but they moved off of Coby White, Kevin Huerter, and Ayo Dosumnu, all known for efficient shooting. While picking at 4, they've missed out on 3 potentially generational prospects in Cameron Boozer, AJ Dybantasa, and Darryn Peterson. They still have the pick of the litter amongst the rest of the draft, with these 3 being the consensus Top 3 choices in the league. Mock drafts have them set to pick Caleb Wilson from the University of North Carolina. He is considered one of the best long-term players in the draft; he is a prospect with legit star-type potential. He's a high-level athlete with a big-time motor with unusual elasticity (or bend) for a player his size. Wilson exceeded expectations offensively last year, and yet still has immense room for progress, not just with his perimeter skill-set, but even his defensive polish. He could be the ideal choice for the Chicago Bulls, assuming none of the aforementioned "big 3" of the draft fall to them. Wilson is the number 2 PF in the class behind Cameron Boozer, and it is also probable that the Grizzlies may take Wilson over Boozer. In that case, the Bulls would love to get their hands on Boozer, especially since his father Carlos was iconic on the early 2010s Bulls teams that were the last time the franchise experienced real success in the NBA.

Moving on from the 4th pick, the Bulls also have another important 1st Round pick to hit on, and that's the 15th pick, which they received in the trade that landed Lauri Markannen with the Cleveland Cavaliers way back in 2021. Jalen Smith is a nice option at the five, but if the Bulls can land a legitimate big man to highlight the young core, they should take it. Zach Collins and Nick Richards are entering free agency, so the time is now to snag a young center. At pick No. 15, key frontcourt prospects like Chris Cenac Jr., Aday Mara, and Motiejus Krivas could be available. Chicago doesn't need a scoring machine at the five, rather a pure rebounder and defender who can work the pick-and-roll with Giddey and other guards. Aday Mara should be the best prospect for the system, especially as a key piece in Michigan's dominant run to the National Championship.

With the future of the franchise on the line in the draft, it will be a huge test to see if this new regime can put together a championship-level roster and bring the Bulls back to their glory days. We shouldn't expect them to draft the next Jordan or Rose, but we should expect a few great pieces that can lead to an excellent team down the line, which can hopefully bring a championship back to Chicago.
